Example of Chain Conveyor Motor Downsizing and Weight Reduction
Issue
Reducing the size and weight of the motor section while maintaining the same torque

Conventional Equipment
A three-phase induction motor with an output power of 0.4 kW is coupled to a chain and sprocket mechanism to drive the motor (an inverter is used for speed control)
- Application
- Transportation of Heavy Objects
Conventional Problems
- The motor itself is large and heavy, making assembly to the conveyor a difficult task
(I want to reduce the weight, but cannot compromise on motor output or torque due to the purpose of the equipment) - The motor and gearhead are integrated into a single unit, which makes the motor heavy and requires a certain amount of manpower for maintenance
Solution
Brushless Motor BMU Series
with JB gearhead (foot mount gearhead)
for downsizing and reduction of weight while maintaining the same speed and torque

The BMU Series of compact, high power brushless motors will enable the motors to be significantly smaller and lighter.
Even chain conveyors for the transportation of heavy loads can be driven with the same torque as conventional conveyors by using JB gearheads with high strength and high permissible torque.
Specific Application Examples

Watch the video to see the equipment in action
- Uses a JB gearhead, a foot mount gearhead with high strength and high permissible torque
- Motor performance, including torque, is equal or better, but smaller and lighter
- The shape of the foot mount gearhead is designed for quick installation on equipment

Reduction of Motor Size and Weight
A comparison with the equivalent performance shows that the mass can be reduced by 18.4 kg and the overall length by 121 mm.

Motor and gearhead can be separated
Since the gearhead and motor can be removed, the motor can be made even lighter, reducing the burden on maintenance.
This allows for flexibility, such as changing only the motor while leaving the gearhead attached to the conveyor.
The connector position of the motor can be changed by 90 degrees.
The cable pull-out direction can be adjusted for easy maintenance wiring.
