Question 18: Using 6W torque motor (TM series) and i encounter heat generation issue. When I touch both the motor surface, it is very hot. The application is for winding up the wire but after sometimes the motor stops running. What could be the issue?

Answer:
For torque motor, there is a 5 minutes rating for the motor. Whereby, the operation duty cycle cannot be at 100%. If you require a torque motor to run continuously, you will need to use a bigger size torque motor i.e. 20W, and run it at half it's rated voltage, this would allow the heat to saturate at a certain point.
