Servo Motors: Does acceleration/ deceleration have to be controlled?
Question 6: Does acceleration/ deceleration have to be controlled?

Answer : If high-speed pulse signals are suddenly input when operating an AC servo motor, the motor's response waveform will be characterized by large overshoot and undershoot. A large overshoot or undershoot can adversely affect workpieces or users's machinery. Therefore, acceleration/ deceleration should be controlled to minimize overshoot and undershoot.
