Stepping Motor: Which is better accuracy: Stepping motor or Servo motor?
Question 6: Which is better accuracy: Stepping motor or Servo motor?

Answer : Accuracy for both is the same. The method of achieving high accuracy for the Stepping motor and the Servo motor are different, but the outcome is the same. Please think around +/-0.05 deg.

A servo motor uses an encoder to achieve accuracy. As the motor rotates, a signal is sent back to the driver to inform it on its current speed and position. The accuracy of Servo Motor is due to encorder accuracy. A stepping motor’s accuracy does not require any form of feedback like an encoder. The basic construction of the stepping motor and its high responsiveness is what provides it with its accuracy. The accuracy of the Stepping Motor is due to the mechnical error of the internal construction.

Encoder Working Principle:

Stepping Motor Working Principle:

Our RKII Series is able to achieve High positioning accuracy without the use of a sensor, has responsiveness during short stroke operations, and able to produce high torque in the lower speed regions.

Our AR Series Closed Loop Stepping motor system is primarily a stepping motor, but has a feedback system similar to that of a Servo motor.
